The paediatric orthopaedic team offers a comprehensive service to children from Sheffield and the surrounding areas, as well as national and international patients.

Treatment is available for all children up to the age of 16 who have sustained sporting injuries.

Treating athletes

Sheffield is a major sporting city with the National Diving Centre and English Institute of Sport, and we see and treat many athletes from the occasional to the elite.

Specific areas of expertise are in the management of wrist injuries in divers, knee ligament injuries from a wide range of sports, and stress fractures of the spine.

To facilitate these services we are expertly supported by our imaging department with rapid access CT & MRI scanning, as well as DEXA.

Training centre

We are a major centre for training the next generation of paediatric orthopaedic surgeons, having trained many of the top surgeons in the UK and abroad.
