Infection prevention and control

hand gel

We take infection control very seriously in the hospital. Our dedicated Infection Prevention and Control team have a number of responsibilities including:

  • training staff in how to prevent the spread of infection
  • making sure that patients, carers and visitors are aware of how to avoid bringing and spreading infections in hospitals
  • monitoring any infection risks
  • early and rapid diagnosis – which should result in effective treatment and containment of infections
  • reporting to the Trust and other bodies incidents of infection e.g. MRSA

All of these activities have helped the Trust maintain a very low infection rate over many years.

The results of infection control audits are on display around the Trust.
