Teenage cancers

The Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) Cancer Service is run jointly by team members from Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Weston Park Hospital.

Together we care for all patients with cancer from the ages 13 to 25.

• we treat and support all teenagers up to 16 at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
• patients aged 13 to 16 are also invited to join in with activities and support groups run by the Activity Co-ordinators at Weston Park Hospital.
• patients aged 16 to 19 are treated at Weston Park Hospital or the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, depending on their diagnosis.
• patients over the age of 19 are offered a choice regarding their preferred place of care, which may include Weston Park Hospital, the Royal Hallamshire Hospital or their local district general hospital.

Each person has a key worker who they will see regularly while under our care.
