An introduction to Paediatric Disability and Clinical Assessment Course

Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is working in partnership with the British Academy of Childhood Disability (BACD) to offer this course.

Audience: specialist nurses, paediatricians and any professionals working with disabled children and young people and those following different developmental pathways.
Cost:£450 (£400 for BACD members and Sheffield Children’s employees)

Course content

This course has been developed by paediatric disability experts at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.
After completing the course you will be able to:

• Reflect on your own practice, as well as the policies and practices where you work and be able to make positive changes as a result of your learning.
• Understand concepts of disability and relate these to your work with disabled children and young people.
• Carry out clinical assessment of potentially disabled children and young people.
• Carry out developmental assessment effectively.
• Communicate effectively with children, young people and their families.
• Evaluate and advise on screening and surveillance programmes relating to neurodisability.
