Why transfer children/babies?

Can parents travel in the ambulance?
Our policy has been under continual review during the COVID-19 pandemic. In keeping with the latest easing of lockdown measures on 17th May, we are pleased to once again offer a seat in the ambulance so one parent or carer can travel (assuming they do not have symptoms of coronavirus).
How do parents get to the accepting hospital?
It’s really important to us that the families of babies and children we are transferring have all the information they need about how to get to the hospital we are travelling to and what facilities they have there. Please refer to the our hospitals page for directions and useful telephone numbers. We can provide sat navs that parents can use which have been pre-programmed with the postcodes of all the locations we transfer to in Yorkshire and the Humber.
