Wave 1 training aims to develop expertise in enhancing speech, language and communication skills of all children.
Skills and knowledge of wave 1 strategies need to be embedded throughout schools in non-teaching areas as well as classrooms.
Courses are therefore most appropriate for whole school staff groups and bespoke packages can be developed from a range of modules, to be run on your own premises, at a time which is convenient for you. Depending on the size of room available, up to 20 people can attend.
The training costs £120 per hour.
Please contact Alice Woods (primary) or Sasha Davies (secondary) if you would like to discuss the content of courses further, or if you’d like to find out if a particular course is suitable for your staff.
We also offer training around the Baseline Language Screen. Please complete the application form to book a place.

The Sheffield speech and language therapy service provides an equitable service across the city into all primary and secondary schools.
However, resources are often insufficient to meet the growing need.
In addition, whilst NHS services traditionally target wave 3 children, many schools are seeing a growing role for the service within waves 1 and 2.
As a result, some schools and units choose to purchase additional speech and language therapy support to top up the level of service provided by the NHS.
