The Early Language Group aims to:

  • Help your child understand instructions with one or two key words. For example, ‘Where’s the dog?’ ‘Give the cake to dolly’
  • Help your child to use single words. We cover different topics. For example, food, transport and animals
  • Introduce visuals like signing and communication mats

How to use the videos

The videos are split into two categories:

  • Group Activities
  • Parent Strategies

The group activities will give you ideas for fun activities to try at home. These activities will help develop your child’s understanding and talking. Use the resources sent in the homework pack to help with this.

The parent strategies will also help develop your child’s understanding and talking. It might be useful to focus on one strategy at a time.

Talk in your home language

Use your home language during activities and when using a strategy. It is really important that your child learns their home language.

Being able to understand and use their home language will make it easier for your child to learn English.
