In Community Paediatrics we hold clinics for pre-school and school aged children up to the age of 16 at Centenary House, Darnall Children’s Centre and the Northern General Hospital.
We see children with a variety of problems including:
We do detailed assessments and arrange further investigations if needed.
We work closely when required with other hospital departments and other agencies such as schools, nurseries, health visitors, school nurses, MAST team, speech therapists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists to ensure our patients get the best possible care.
We also prepare medical advice for the Local Education Authority for Statements of Special Educational Needs.
The Community Paediatric clinics accept referrals from:
Health visitors and school nurses are encouraged to discuss cases with the child’s GP before referring them to Community Paediatrics.
School or nursery staff should channel referrals through the Inclusion team or the child’s GP, health visitor or school nurse with relevant supporting information.
Please discuss with your GP, health visitor or school nurse if you would like your child to be referred to our service.
Our clinics are held at Centenary House, the Northern General Hospital and Darnall Children’s Centre.
