Our Cardiology Service provides outpatient services for children of all ages in Sheffield with heart problems.
The Cardiology Service is clinically led by Dr Rupa Talekar, Dr Pallavi Agadoorappa and Dr Josephine Murphy – Consultant Paediatricians with Expertise in Cardiology, and are joined by an outreach Consultant Cardiologist from Leeds, Dr Daniel Velasco-Sanchez.
Dr Rupa Talekar, Dr Pallavi Agadoorappa and Dr Josephine Murphy each run weekly clinics at Sheffield Children’s Hospital where they see and manage cardiac cases.
Dr Velasco-Sanchez runs a bi-monthly clinic at Sheffield Children’s Hospital where he sees patients with more complex cardiac cases. In clinic, Dr Velasco-Sanchez is often joined by the Consultant Paediatricians with Expertise in Cardiology (PECs), Dr Rupa Talekar, Dr Pallavi Agadoorappa and Dr Josephine Murphy.
All these clinics offer primary cardiac investigations like Echocardiograms (ultrasound of the heart) and Electrocardiograms/ECGs (monitor that traces the heart’s rhythm, rate and electricity), which are essential in identifying cardiac problems and leading to diagnosis.
Our outreach cardiology service is based at Leeds General Infirmary, which offers nursing care and surgical care for cardiac patients.
We offer transition to the adult cardiology services such as the Inherited Cardiac Conditions clinic at the Northern General Hospital.
