Steve Kelly

I have been a public governor representing Sheffield constituency since September 2019.

I wanted to “give a bit back” to the local community, and serving as a governor seemed appropriate given my own experience and the fact that I am a Sheffield parent who has needed the Trust’s excellent services in the past.

I have worked in the NHS since 1989 when I became a trainee accountant after leaving school. I’ve been a qualified accountant for 22 years and now run a specialist healthcare finance consultancy with a particular interest in bringing the finances closer to the patient so that strategic decisions are taken with the patient’s needs being the primary consideration (not as easy as it may seem). I advise NHS Trusts and international health authorities in this regard.

My work demands that I am very familiar with all types of clinical services and I would encourage constituents to contact me should they have any views that they would like to be heard. In conducting my role as a governor I will be ensuring I can help the needs of patients and other service users as best I can.
