Clinical interests

  • paediatric upper limb including trauma
  • metabolic bone disease and bone and joint infection
  • developmental dysplasia of the hip and Perthes disease
  • paediatric neuromuscular conditions including cerebral palsy and gait analysis
  • paediatric limb reconstruction
  • club foot

Qualifications and training

  • BM. FRCS (Tr&Orth)
  • qualified from Southampton University Medical School in 1988, trained in Wessex region
  • fellowship experience in Sheffield, USA and Russia

Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon since 2002:

  • Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (and Royal United Hospital in Bath), 2002-2007
  • Beit CURE International Hospital, Blantyre Malawi, 2007-2015
  • Sheffield Children’s Hospital, since 2015

Research and teaching

Mr Cashman is the departmental lead in training. He maintains an additional interest in training internationally and in particular in Sub-Saharan Africa.

He sits on the International Global Advisory Committee to the Global Clubfoot Initiative and maintains research interests in club foot, infection and metabolic bone disease.
