Profile

Qualifications: BSc Food Nutrition and Health Science at University of Teesside, PG Dip Dietetics at Leeds Beckett University, HCPC Registered Dietitian DT25905

My specialist area is ketogenic diet treatment, which reduces seizures in infants and children with epilepsy and can only be used under supervision of a specialist dietitian and a ketogenic multidisciplinary team.

It is my responsibility to calculate individually tailored diets for each infant and child, meeting their nutritional requirements for growth, weight gain and to promote development. My experience in other areas of paediatric dietetics supports my current role and I am a member of the British Dietetic Association, including the specialist paediatric group which keeps me up to date with new practice..

There are many new studies looking at ketogenic diets so the team and I are often involved in ongoing clinical trials. As a member of the Ketogenic Dietitians Research Network I work with the group to produce new research.

I love my role here at Sheffield Children’s and feel privileged to work alongside a fantastic team supporting children and their families with epilepsy and other conditions.
