The inspiring journey from apprentice to Deputy Chief Executive

It’s National Apprenticeship Week 2020 so we’ve taken this opportunity to look at what it means to be an apprentice at Sheffield Children’s and how it can kick start your career.

Ruth Brown, Deputy Chief Executive, started off as an apprentice in the NHS so Peter from our Youth Forum quizzed her about what it was like and what opportunities were available for young people in 2020.

Ruth said: “Being an apprentice was brilliant, I had a great time. It really gives you the opportunity to have hands on experience alongside training to develop your skills – and it’s a great way to join a large organisation like the NHS!”
